After School Spanish Classes

Keep the Spanish alive! After School Spanish classes give elementary-aged students (K–5) a fun, immersive way to continue building their language skills long after preschool.

Classes are taught entirely in Spanish and run once or twice a week, weaving conversation and hands-on activities into engaging weekly themes. Each 1.5-hour session is designed to feel less like class and more like an adventure — one where everything just happens to be in Spanish.

Perfect for:

  • Spanish Schoolhouse graduates ready to keep the momentum going

  • New students eager to dive into a Spanish-immersion experience

Classes are offered each fall and spring semester, with 12 weeks per session — giving students plenty of time to grow in confidence and fluency.

Spanish Schoolhouse After School Activities

Each week, a new theme sets the stage for learning. Students explore Spanish through storytelling, songs, games, cultural activities, and hands-on worksheets - making every class a fresh, memorable experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! Our after-school program is an active, hands-on learning environment, where all students can join in the fun, regardless of their level of Spanish. Because it is an immersion class, our teachers dramatize and "act out" what they are saying, and use visual materials as cues. This helps ensure that students understand without translating.

  • Students may enroll for one or two classes per week. Each week has a theme and the two class days will have different activities based on the same theme. Students who attend both days will have extra reinforcement and practice without direct repetition. Each theme include common vocabulary, verbs, and phrases. Conversation and whole language are emphasized!

Class activities include reading stories, acting out plays, participating in games and contests, singing Spanish songs, and more. A smaller, but important, portion of the class is based on reading and writing workbook exercises.

  • No we do not provide make-up days for missed classes. If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up day will be offered.

  • We are fortunate to live in a state where there are many opportunities for exposure to the Spanish language. Look for Spanish story times and activities at local libraries, try children's programming on Spanish television networks, attend cultural events in the community, or explore the wide variety of Spanish learning websites and apps.
